When you open RStudio you might wonder what all those windows do. Click on File – New File – R Script and there will be four windows.

  • The upper left contains the script. This is the place that contains all the commands that you want the program to execute. This is where you work.
  • The lower left is the console, where all the results, lists and (hopefully not that much) error messages will appear.
  • The upper right window provides an overview of the data you are using currently.
  • The lower right window is multifunctional and very useful. There are some tabs, where “Plots”, “Packages” and “Help” are the most important. You will understand very soon why this is the case.

Okay, that’s nice. But we want to play with some data. Let’s do that. Click here!
